Heather Berlin, PhD

Heather Berlin is a cognitive neuroscientist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. She received her PhD from the University of Oxford and MPH from Harvard University. She explores the complex interactions of the human brain and mind with the goal of contributing to improved treatment and prevention of impulsive and compulsive psychiatric disorders. She is also interested in the neural basis of consciousness and dynamic unconscious processes and is a Visiting Scholar at the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.

Dr. Berlin is currently a host of CUNY TV’s Science Goes to the Movies, a monthly series that looks at science in contemporary motion pictures. She is a presenter on the international Discovery Channel series Superhuman Showdown. Berlin has made numerous media appearances on the History Channel, BBC World Service, StarTalk Radio with Neil deGrasse Tyson, Big Think, One World with Deepak Chopra, and TEDx.
