Suzanne O’Sullivan

Suzanne O’Sullivan has been a consultant in neurology since 2004, first working at The Royal London Hospital and now as a consultant in clinical neurophysiology and neurology at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London, and for a specialist unit based at the Epilepsy Society. She studied medicine at Trinity College in Dublin and trained in neurology and clinical neurophysiology. Her focus is on epilepsy and in improving services for people who suffer from functional neurological disorders.

Dr. O’Sullivan’s first book Is It All in Your Head?: True Stories of Imaginary Illnesses, which explores accounts of patients whose symptoms had psychological origins, was the winner of the 2016 Wellcome Book Prize. She is also the author of Brainstorm: Detective Stories from the World of Neurology which examines stories of patients whose symptoms are so strange even their doctor struggles to know how to solve them.
